Dallas Strong Mayor Proposal Defeated Again

Dallas, TX –
90.1's Bill Zeeble: Proposition One was a weaker version of last May's failed ballot item. Yesterday's measure would've let the mayor hire or fire the city manager and other key positions. Proponents said a strong mayor could help fix a broken Dallas. But Councilman Ed Oakley, who helped lead the opposition, said development projects all over town prove otherwise

Ed Oakley, Dallas City Council Member: We are doing the right thing in this city. You just take a look at what's happening around Dallas . The message isn't getting out. People continue to think it's broken. It's not broken. The council's doing what we need to be doing.
