Jubilee Theatre begins 25th season without its founder

Dallas, TX –

Fort Worth-based Jubilee Theatre begins its new season October 21st with George C. Wolfe's "The Colored Museum" - and at a turning point. The company will perform its usual mix of plays and musicals about the African American experience, but without the guiding hand of founder and artistic director Rudy Eastman. Jubilee hopes to have a new artistic director in place in May of 2006.

At the time of Eastman's death earlier this year, Jubilee Theatre had a bright future ahead - increased ticket sales, an expanded theater, strong community support all stemming from a chance idea he shared with KERA 13 several years ago about what he might accomplish in local theater. Managing director Eric Salisbury also talks with 90.1's Sam Baker about the challenges ahead.
