Food Banks Assist Local Evacuees

Dallas, TX –

North Texans responded generously over the Labor Day weekend with assistance for survivors of Hurricane Katrina evacuated from Louisiana. But the need continues. Tonight (September 7th) at 7pm, KERA 90.1 and KERA 13 will host an hour-long relief drive special in support of the evacuees. The money will go to two food banks. Jan Pruitt is CEO of the North Texas Food Bank. Bo Soderbergh is executive director of the Tarrant Area Food Bank. They told 90.1's Sam Baker the effort to feed the evacuees extends well beyond shelters.

The KERA Local Relief Drive airs Wednesday, September 7 at 7pm on KERA 13 and KERA 90.1.
