'Side Effects': Inside Look at Drug Companies

Dallas, TX –

As drug manufacturer Merck prepares to face another Vioxx-related trial in New Jersey after a quarter-billion dollar verdict this month in Texas, a new movie with an insider's view of the pharmaceutical industry will soon have its world premiere in Dallas. Side Effects cost about $190,000 to make - small change compared to what the industry spends to market a drug. Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau wrote and directed Side Effects based on the 10 years she spent as a sales representative for three different pharmaceutical companies. Good pay and company perks wooed her at 23, but Slattery-Moschkau told 90.1's Sam Baker time and maturity opened her eyes to how drug companies sell their products.

Side Effects has its world premiere September 9th at the Angelika Theatre in Dallas.
