Plano Residents to Vote on Regional Arts Hall Location
Dallas, TX –
On May 7th, Plano residents will decide if money for an arts hall approved seven years ago can be spent on a regional performance hall in Allen. About a thousand citizens signed a petition and forced the vote, because they say officials promised them an arts facility in Plano. Jack Lagos helped spearhead the campaign, and we'll hear from him in a minute. But first, Plano Mayor Pat Evans - she says the regional deal with Allen and Frisco became a necessity when the original $19.2 million in bonds proved insufficient. After two years of planning, the cities have come up with a $70 million hall on donated land that'll seat more than 2000 people.
