Austin, TX –
A last minute addition to the list of candidates filing for the vacant House District 121 race brings the total number of candidates in the Feb. 5 election to four.
In addition to Paul Silber, Joe Strauss and Rose Spector, Glen Starnes also has filed.
Starnes, a 39-year-old Republican, is a political newcomer, and is a financial advisor.
The four candidates are seeking the HD 121 seat vacated by former State Rep. Elizabeth Ames Jones, who Jan. 11 declined to be sworn in for another term after Gov. Rick Perry named her the previous week as his nominee to fill the post at the Texas Railroad Commission that is being vacated by Commissioner Charles Matthews. Matthews is leaving the Commission to serve as chancellor of the Texas State University System.
Early voting in the special election, called last week by Perry, will run from Tuesday, Jan. 25, through Tuesday, Feb. 1.
