Dallas-based candle company issues tea-light recall

By Bill Zeeble, KERA 90.1 reporter

Dallas, TX – Bill Zeeble, KERA 90.1 reporter: Home Interiors and Gifts sold its red and ivory tea light sets for $5, September through November of this year through its independent sellers. The dozen coin-sized candles aren't sold in stores. Working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Home Interiors has recalled 211-thousand candle sets. It'll pay $7.50 to cover the candle set and mail costs. Cynthia Pharr is a Home Interiors spokesperson.

Cynthia Pharr, spokesperson, Home Interiors: The company was notified that some of the candles burned incorrectly. A few customers called the people they bought them from and they in turn called the company.

Zeeble: The candles can burn their plastic base, causing smoke and possibly worse, though no serious damage or injuries have been reported. For KERA 90.1, I'm Bill Zeeble.
