The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: It's the home-opener for the Texas Rangers in Arlington, and a giraffe calf is born at the Dallas Zoo.

Thousands skipped work and spent the day at Globe Life Park in Arlington for the Texas Rangers’ home opener against the Houston Astros. And after an hour of hard labor, a giraffe calf has arrived.
