KERA 'Morning Edition' Host Sam Baker made 409 episodes of a radio show for the blind and literacy-impaired. It brought listeners the best writing he could find about jazz.

When you're listening to KERA, there's a separate station running on a subfrequency of 90.1. Only special radios for people who have trouble seeing or reading can pick up the signal. One of the shows heard on the station until this month was hosted and produced by 'Morning Edition' host Sam Baker.

It was called "Jazz In Words And Music" - and featured Sam's hand-picked articles about the genre's place in history, race relations, even the ensemble as a business model.
