Moby-Dick composer Jake Heggie has written his very first symphony. The work is for UNT, where he served as an artist-in-residence in 2010-2011. Ahab Symphony! premieres Wednesday at UNT's Murchison Performing Arts Center. Get to know Heggie before he sits down with Think host Krys Boyd at 1 p.m.
KERA's Jerome Weeks followed Heggie to rehearsals for Three Decembers during the composer's residence, when Ahab Symphony! was just a twinkle in Heggie's eye.
The UNT Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Chorus, and tenor soloist Richard Croft will perform the work. Find tickets here.
Listen to Think from noon to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday, on KERA 90.1. You can stream the show at kera.org.
