Commentator Frank Deford says in his hometown of Baltimore, the sport of duckpin bowling was a December seasonal favorite. It was there he learned that girls can be just as good in sports as boys. Now that his favorite duckpin alley has been torn down, Deford says it symbolizes an end of an era.
