Jerry Butler

Nicknamed "The Iceman, " because of his cool singing style, Jerry Butler, the soulful crooner and founding member of The Impressions still performs. But he's also an elected official -- a Cook County Commissioner. His memoir Only the Strong Survive -- Memoir of a Soul Survivor has just been published and a collection of his hits newly released. From rural Mississippi to Chicago, music maker to politician. NPR's Cheryl Corley has this profile.
