It's not just Wednesday — it's Change a Pet's Life Day.
That means Dallas Animal Services is offering free adoptions of their cats and dogs from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
As of Saturday, the shelter was over capacity with its intake of dogs. The shelter says it's always dealing with capacity issues as it takes more animals off the streets and keeps them in the shelter for longer to address medical and behavioral needs.
We are at 108% capacity on dogs. As we continue to bring in loose dogs off the streets and work to give animals with medical and behavioral needs more time, we are continually dealing with capacity issues and need the community’s help. Adoptable pets will be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated. Now, they just need a place to call home.
You can adopt the animals today at the main shelter, located at 1818 N. Westmoreland Road, and at the PetSmart at 16821 N. Coit Road.
