A federal judge has once again thrown out Texas' voter ID law. U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos today rejected a weakened version of the law signed by Governor Greg Abbott earlier this year. Texas had made the changes after the same judge compared the original version to a "poll tax" on minorities.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called the ruling outrageous and says he will appeal it.

A tropical depression is headed for the Texas Gulf Coast, and it could strengthen into a hurricane. Gov. Greg Abbott has declared a pre-emptive state of disaster for 30 counties, including Harris County. He's requested extra emergency preparation and has ordered the State Operations Center to elevate its readiness level.
