Top Stories: Texas Cannabis Oil Rules Still In Flux; Dallas Shooter Showed Signs of PTSD

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

The Department of Public Safety meets today to review the latest set of rules for dispensing medical marijuana in Texas.

The state legislature approved limited medical use of low-THC marijuana oil in 2015. DPS has a two-year timeline to put the law into action

Officials say they’re close to contracting with a tech company that will create the online registry of doctors, patients and approved dispensaries for low-THC cannabis oil.

  • The Army veteran who killed five police officers in downtown Dallas last month showed signs of post-traumatic stress after returning from Afghanistan in 2014. According to the Dallas Morning News, Micah Xavier Johnson received medical treatment and counseling from the Dallas V-A Medical Center between July and October of that year.
  • A new biopic follows the first date between Barack Obama and his future wife, Michelle.
