From The Newsroom: Finalizing The State Budget; Homeless Students In Texas

Todd Wiseman
/
The Texas Tribune

The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: The state budget committee has finalized a budget that will go to the House and Senate for a vote. One item that was crossed off: a rider that would ban state money from being used to build a high-speed rail line between Dallas and Houston.

Also, we’ll hear from high school seniors who may benefit from the new law that would let them graduate despite failing some STAAR tests.

Finally, what does homelessness looks like for Texas students? A woman who works with homeless students explains for this week’s Friday Conversation.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
