The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: Troubled charter school Prime Prep has closed its doors after two years.

Tonight’s world premiere from the Dallas Opera scales great heights – Everest is tale pulled together from those who survived climbing the world’s tallest mountain.

Also, renowned sculptor Melvin Edwards looks back at a half-century’s worth of work and how the civil rights movement inspired him.
