It's tough out there for commuters.

A new U.S. Census reportshows that more than 10 million Americans commute an hour or more each way to work. (And more folkscommute into Dallas County -- a half-million-plus -- than into just about any other county in the country. Plus ... you guessed it ... almost all of them arrive by car.)

So how bad is your commute? Our data-loving pals at member station WNYC built a way-cool interactive that lets you see the average commute, down to the zip code level. (And for you folks living in 75488, between Bonham and Paris? The ones with the average commute of 58.8 minutes? We feel your pain.)

Rick Holter was KERA's vice president of news. He oversaw news coverage on all of KERA's platforms – radio, digital and television. Under his leadership, KERA News earned more than 200 local, regional and national awards, including the station's first two national Edward R. Murrow Awards. He and the KERA News staff were also part of NPR's Ebola-coverage team that won a George Foster Peabody Award, broadcasting's highest honor.
