Fracking Bill Passes

The Texas Senate has passed what could be the first legislation that requires gas drilling companies to disclose the chemicals in fracturing fluid. Sponsor of the bill in the House, Representative Jim Keffer of Eastland says the public has a right to know what's being put into the ground where they live. He says the bill will protect the public. Senate sponsor Troy Frasier says he believes the bill will be sent to the Governor's desk, and the Governor will sign it.

Former FW Police Officer Indicted

A former Fort Worth Police officer is facing charges in connection with a traffic ticket scandal. 46 year old Herman Young was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury on 12 counts of tampering with a governmental record, and one count of theft by a public servant. The indictment claims Young was paid 20 thousand dollars for overtime he did not work between 2008 and 2010. Nine officers were fired, or resigned, last year after an investigation into a scheme to alter traffic tickets to collect overtime pay under a Traffic Enforcement grant.

Colleyville Student Wins National Geographic Bee

A 13 year old student at Colleyville Middle School is the winner of the National Geographic Bee in Washington. Tine Valencic wins a 25 thousand dollar scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands. The final round was hosted by Alex Trebek of Jeopardy. Tine didn't miss a single question during the final round.
