Dallas, TX – The Texas Board of Education considers a controversial resolution today focused on alleged religious bias in Social Studies text books. Outspoken Christian conservative trustee Don McLeroy says there's a strong pro-Islamic, anti-Christian slant in one text.

McLeroy: In this one that's a very popular AP world history book, in the hierarchy of the table of contents, Christianity didn't even get mentioned. In talking about the origins of Christianity, it got bold print, didn't even rate the hierarchy of the table of contents. And it shared it with Hinduism.
McLeroy - who recently lost his board seat - wants Christianity taught as the foundation for western civilization. Kathy Miller, with The Texas Freedom Network, says he and like-minded trustees, are playing a dangerous game of religious favoritism and politics in this election year.

Miller: They're not considering a resolution saying no faith should be promoted or disparaged. They're singling out one faith over another. They're singling out one faith to disparage and attack. That's not in accord with what Mclreoy is saying that we want to promote religous freedom.
Miller says the book in question isn't even used in Texas anymore, and hasn't been for awhile. She says the point is moot, and controversy manufactured.
