Dallas, TX –

Former Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle and 2 others spoke a Dallas Democratic Forum event today. All 3 are running to be the Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor in November. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more.

In 32 years as D.A., Earle became a legend around Austin. He prosecuted former U.S. House Majority leader, Republican Tom Delay. In 1982, he indicted and prosecuted Democratic Texas Attorney General, Jim Mattox, who was acquitted. Earle also indicted then state Treasurer Kay Bailey Hutchison. A judge threw the case out.

Earle says he has the experience others lack.

Earle: I've spent years attacking corruption and government in politics from the inside. Now I'm asking you to send me inside for REAL change. From special deals for a few to a better deal for everybody.

Ronnie Earle, San Antonio union leader Linda Chavez-Thompson, and well-known Austin deli-owner Mark Katz face each other in the March 2nd primary. The winner hopes to unseat Republican incumbent Lt. Governor David Dewhurst in November.
