Dallas, TX – Leading Democrats running for Governor have met in their first and only televised debate.

In this half-hour program, The Texas Debates and the Democratic Primary, KERA takes at look how former Houston Mayor Bill White and millionaire businessman Farouk Shami answered questions presented by journalists and voters during a debate produced and broadcast statewide by KERA and its media partners.

Shami and White talked about how they would create jobs and fund education. They have different views on the death penalty and a moratorium for gas drilling in the Barnett Shale.

KERA's Shelley Kofler is joined by SMU Political Science Professor Cal Jillson and Fort Worth Star-Telegram Reporter Bud Kennedy for the discussion.
