New Governor's Race Poll & Nightly Roundup

Dallas, TX –

A new poll in the Texas Governor's race shows incumbent Rick Perry still in the lead, with Debra Medina moving up.

The poll, done by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling, puts Perry at 39%, Kay Bailey Hutchison, 28% and Debra Medina 24%.

Democratic candidate Bill White leads Farouk Shami 49 to 19%.

The poll sampled some 400 Republican and Democratic voters. The margin of error is about 5%.

Meanwhile, Debra Medina, is launching a series of webcast town hall meetings. They're scheduled for the three Mondays before the March 2nd primary.

This first is February 15th, and focuses on "Private Property".

Dallas Library Icon Dies

Lillian Moore Bradshaw, director of Dallas Public Libraries from 1962 to 1984, has passed away at the age of 95.

Ms. Bradshaw was the first woman in the United States to direct a major library system.

Texas Woman's University in Denton is home to the Lillian Moore Bradshaw Chair of Library Sciences.

Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm says "women now sit in city government at every level, but Lillian Moore Bradshaw was a pioneer."

Arrest Made In $90,000 Ring Heist

Wichita Falls Police have arrested a suspect in a violent robbery at a Dallas Whole Foods Store parking lot.

Last month, a 53 year old woman was thrown to the pavement as she was unloading groceries. The assailant yanked a necklace from her neck, and stole her 7 carat wedding ring, worth 90 thousand dollars.

Dallas Police believe 42 year old Bryan Maurice Fuller is one of the suspects responsible. He's now in the Wichita Falls jail. The ring has not been recovered.

Dallas Hit and Run Suspect Identified

Dallas Police have identified the suspect in a fatal hit and run on Stemmons early Sunday morning. 30 year old Ronald Davis was struck and killed as he attempted to help a stranded motorist.

Police say the car that hit Davis stopped momentarily, but then fled the scene.

Investigators have interviewed the 23 year old woman they believe was driving the car. They say an arrest warrant will be issued once witness interviews are completed.
