Dallas, TX –

Ten thousand homeless, and low-income Dallas School District families, are expected at the Dallas Convention Center tomorrow for the V-A's "Homeless Standown"/Operation Coming Home.

Tammy Wood, with Veteran Affairs, says it's a huge Christmas party with all the trimmings, gifts, and two thousand volunteers.

Wood: We're going to be serving the homeless meals, and winter items, including shoes, and jackets and blankets.

Wood says the V-A and its partners, such as Operation Care, will also provide information about homeless services. The V-A and Parkland will be there to give flu shots, and enroll the homeless in a variety of health care programs available to them. Wood says that's a gift that will continue "giving" throughout the New Year.
