Dallas, TX –

Drivers are getting a Christmas gift at the pump.

The average price per gallon is down nearly a nickel from a week ago.

Ronan: In Texas we are down four cents, and that's the same as the national average. And once again we are starting to flirt with the $2.40 range. In the Dallas area: $2.44; Houston $2.41.

Dan Ronan, with Texas Triple-A, says Houston has the cheapest gas. El Paso has the most expensive at $2.58.

But, here's a humbug greeting from the Gas-Grinch: last year at Christmastime, gasoline was about $1.55 a gallon!
