Dallas, TX –
It's runoff election day for two Dallas School Board seats, where turnout's expected to be low. Voters and candidates say their top priority involves watching the budget. KERA's Bill Zeeble reports.
After last year's devastating layoffs and budget deficit in the Dallas Independent School District, board candidates insist they'll scrutinize the district's budget and hold the administration accountable.
In District 3, incumbent Leigh Ann Ellis faces challenger Bruce Parrot, husband of a former trustee who lost to Ellis. The District 9 race will fill an open seat vacated by incumbent Ron Price, who chose not to run again.
Bernadette Nutall and Sally Cain are vying for the seat covering parts of Dallas's south and southeast region. The candidates were the two top vote getters in November's election, each emerging from a crowded field of 4 hopefuls.
