Dallas, TX –
The click it or ticket phrase now applies to every vehicle passenger in Texas.
Beginning September 1st, every vehicle occupant - not just the driver - must wear a secured seatbelt. It doesn't matter where the passenger is sitting.
Children aged 8 or younger must be in a child safety seat unless that child is taller than 4 feet 9 inches. While the law starts Tuesday, officers can issue warnings until next year. They cannot issue tickets until June 1st of 2010.
