Dallas, TX –
It's going to take longer to demolish Reunion Arena than first thought.
Frank Poe, Dallas Convention Center Director, says A&R Demolition discovered some insulation in the roof that wasn't in the original blueprints.
Because of that, crews cannot "implode" the roof as planned. Poe says the insulation is Styrofoam, and an implosion would send bits of it floating all over downtown and the Mixmaster. He says the demo-crews will have to dismantle the roof.
That will add about 50 thousand dollars to the cost, and three more months to the job. It was to be finished this fall.
The City Council is expected to approve the additional money and time on Wednesday.
