Dallas, TX – U.S. Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor made a first appearance on Capitol Hill Tuesday. She met with leaders of both parties, but NOT Texas Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn.

Hutchison, at a Dallas appearance, says she's eager for the conversation to turn to Sotomayor's qualifications, rather than her past-comments about being a Latina on the bench.

Hutchison: We need to have the facts about her opinions, her judicial philosophy. She's a very bright woman, obviously academically qualified. But I think judicial philosophy is the most important part. And that's what we have to determine.

Texas Senator John Cornyn, on the Judiciary Committee, will meet with Sotomayor on Thursday.
