Cleburne, TX – It'll be a hot, DRY, start to summer in Cleburne - even though residents voted overwhelmingly on May 9th to allow beer and wine sales in stores.
City officials say the ordinance establishing the permitting process won't take effect until June 8th. Then stores must be inspected and get paperwork processed by the city, the county, the state Comptroller's office and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
City officials expect it'll be mid-July at least before stores can offer cold beer for sale on a hot summer day in Cleburne.
