Dallas, TX – Dallas is a step closer to a DAYTIME curfew for school-age children.
Police and City Hall officials say the city's NIGHTTIME juvenile curfew has been very successful. Mayor Tom Leppert says police believe expanding their power to deal with truants will cut down on the city's burglary rate.
Leppert: We found out as we went thru the data that a large portion of those burglaries were happening between 9 and 3, that a lot of this was kids being out of school that were doing the burglaries when people were at work.
City Council members have scheduled two public hearings on the curfew. A final vote comes in April.
