Dallas, TX – Despite its deep budget deficit and hundreds of layoffs, Dallas schools will distribute nearly $250,000 in bonuses to some employees this month.
A maintenance worker got an extra $750 in his December paycheck, part of a bonus to employees where schools and student scores improved. Some teachers at the same school, South Oak Cliff High School, received an additional $9,500 this year for the same reason.
They are among several hundred DISD workers from 59 Dallas schools eligible for extra pay through the federal Teacher Incentive Fund.
