Dallas, tX – Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert is on Capitol Hill today lobbying for federal money for cities in the yet-to-be-created economic stimulus package.

Mayor Leppert joins other members of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in a call for federal dollars to jumpstart local infrastructure projects. The mayors bring with them a list of "ready to go" projects that could start and finish in two years if funded by federal economic stimulus dollars.

The Mayors say investing in Main Street city economies is the most direct path to creating jobs and stimulating business, and that can begin to reverse the current economic downturn.

After a news conference at the capital, Mayor Leppert will be among those meeting with the House Speaker and Senate Majority Leader.
