GM In Arlington Continues Overtime Schedule

By Bill Zeeble, KERA News

Dallas, TX – As General Motors struggles to avoid bankruptcy and tries to win government loans, it's extending some plant shut-downs across North America. But not at GM's Arlington plant, as KERA's Bill Zeeble reports.

Because of slumping car sales, routine holiday shut downs will be extended at U.S. plants in Michigan, Kansas, Ohio, and in Ottowa, Canada.

At the same time though, the manufacturer's soon-to-be only full size SUV assembly plant here in Arlington will continue working overtime through the end of the year. Tony Sapienza is with GM.

Tony: OUR DEALERS Are ASKING for a few more of those products so we're taking a close look at how many they need and adjusting, based on where the market goes.

A full size van plant in Missouri and other facilities in Michigan, Tennessee and Indiana will also keep or restore overtime.
