Dallas, TX – Public school starts Monday for most North Texans.

The Texas Education Agency's DeEtta Culbertson says there are no big changes this year from last for returning students. The biggest challenge often applies to first time students and their parents.

Culbertson: Parents need necessary paperwork together when they take their child in. That could include a birth certificate, prior school transcripts, immunization records. They should call the school their child's attending to see what other records or papers they may need to bring with them.

The TEA's Culbertson says there are often school fees, as well, for various programs, so she advises you check in advance to learn of them. As of last year, high schoolers are also now required to finish four years of math and science.
