IndyCar has gotten the green flag to finally start its season in Texas next month with a nighttime race June 6 without spectators.

The race is on among states willing to be the first to host NASCAR races without fans.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted Monday that NASCAR was working with Texas Motor Speedway on a plan to race there.

Fort Worth's Texas Motor Speedway is known for big NASCAR events, but every Friday for six weeks in the summertime, its track is open to amateurs.

The speedway's Friday night drag races draws racing enthusiasts from all over North Texas — and some from hundreds of miles away — to try their luck.

The speedway on Wednesday night unveiled its giant high-definition video board. TMS says it’s the world’s biggest HD screen at a sporting venue.
