Mayor Mike Rawlings says southern Dallas is headed in the right direction.

The Forest Theater in the Fair Park neighborhood of Dallas will get a new lease on life. The Real Estate Council has awarded a million-dollar grant to renovate the former movie and performing arts venue, along with nearby retail space and exteriors. 

Early voting ends today for Saturday’s municipal elections across North Texas. The top contest on the ballot is for mayor of Dallas: Incumbent Mike Rawlings and challenger Marcos Ronquillo.

Urban Gardening Could Get Easier In Dallas This Week

For the first time since 2010, the Dallas City Council this week is considering new rules around agriculture within the city limits. The new ordinance was put together by a team of food activists, gardeners, city staff and elected officials. Susie Marshall, executive director of GROW North Texas, was one of those people.

Another Dallas company has signed onto Mayor Mike Rawlings’ Grow South Community Fund.  That’s two down and eight to go for the mayor.

Dallas officials and the Texas National Guard tore down their 105th abandoned home today. The Guard has helped many cities throughout the state clean up since 1993.
