Vital Signs: Smoking Alcohol – Having A Drink Is Not Enough For Some

Some may be bored consuming it the old fashioned way. For others, it’s a calorie-conscious move. But whatever the reason,  there’s been a reported rise again in cases of “smoking alcohol.”

 

There’s no burning involved. Rather, it’s what happens when you combine alcohol and dry ice. Some opt instead for a do-it-yourself vaporizing kit using bike pumps.

While not an epidemic or rampant, the North Texas Poison Control Center has been getting questions about this “smoking alcohol. In this edition of Vital Signs, the center’s director, Dr. Brett Roth, explains how it works and why he thinks smoking alcohol is cause for concern.
