White Rock Lake in Dallas.

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

White Rock Lake has resumed normal operations again after last week's threat of a major raw sewage leak. Damage to a wastewater pipe in Plano sent more than one million gallons of raw sewage into White Rock Creek about 12 miles upstream of the lake.

However, crews managed to contain that leak before it reached White Rock Lake.

With the upcoming Fourth of July holiday on Wednesday, recreational lake activities are up and running. The launch at the dog park, where dogs can wade into the water, reopens as well.

Other stories this morning:

  • It’s been 50 years since Dr. Kenneth Cooper wrote the book on aerobics, the best-seller that helped launch the country's fitness movement. His son, Dr. Tyler Cooper, continues the family legacy at the Dallas-based Cooper Aerobics Center. Dr. Tyler Cooper talked with KERA’s Lee Cullum on the TV program CEO about how fitness research is changing, and what can be done to get children in better shape.
