Top Stories: New Mental Health Clinic Gives Veterans Free Care; Exploring The Other Texas State Fair

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: A new clinic opened Wednesday in Addison that aims to help veterans by giving them and their families free mental health care. 

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare is part of a network of clinics nationwide. The North Texas clinic is the third to open, and the goal is to provide care in addition to what the Veterans Affairs centers offer.

There’s been a lot of debate about the future of Fair Park, but we’re going to explore a big event from its past. A four-day celebration is underway at Fair Park to mark the 80th anniversary of the Texas Centennial Exposition.
