Top Stories: Governor Abbott To Announce Re-Election Bid; Affordable Housing And Income

Governor Greg Abbott is expected to announce he's running for re-election after promising a major campaign announcement Friday in San Antonio. All signs have pointed to Abbott seeking re-election next year, especially considering the size of his campaign war chest: more than $34 million.

  • Last week, North Korea successfully tested an intercontinental missile capable of reaching Alaska. Countries around the world including Russia and China condemned the test. Yet there's still no clear solution to the growing threat of the Kim Jun Un regime. Today on Think, Krys Boyd talked with Mark Bowden of The Atlantic about why this situation is uniquely delicate.

  • It’s getting harder for people in Dallas-Fort Worth and other big cities in Texas to find affordable homes or apartments – that’s because the cost of housing is outpacing salaries. That’s according to a new report from Harvard University. Brandon Formby is a reporter with the Texas Tribune who's based in the KERA newsroom. He's written about the report and he joined KERA's Eric Aasen to talk about the findings. 

  • One of the best-selling children’s books over the past two decades has been Tarō Gomi’s “Everyone Poops.” It’s beloved because of its hilarious title and because it helps timid kids feel unashamed about going to the bathroom. But as Art&Seek’s Hady Mawajdeh reports, a local artist has co-opted the name for an art show dealing with family dynamics and loss.
