The top local story this evening from KERA News: The  public radio program America Abroadwill explore the relationship between the United States and Israel Sunday at 5 p.m. on KERA 90.1.

In advance of the hour-long special program, KERA talked with religious and security experts in Texas and elsewhere.

Religious support for the Jewish state – in Texas and beyond -- may surprise you.

Middle East scholar Shibley Telhami's research found that 64 percent of evangelical Republicans said a presidential candidate’s opinion on Israel matters “a lot,” – that’s twice what non-evangelical Republicans report.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 6:20 p.m. and 8:22 a.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
