"Titletown, TX" tells the story of The Aledo Bearcats, a high school football team in the town of Aledo, Texas that hopes to win its sixth state title in eight years.

High school football playoffs are underway. For the Aledo Bearcats — a powerhouse football team from Parker County – this time of the season is the ultimate test after months of training hard and dreaming big.

The players star in "Titletown TX," a documentary series following the Bearcats as they fight for their sixth state title in just a few years. The series, which premiered in August, is produced by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Director and producer Jared Christopher joined KERA’s Justin Martin to talk about the series.

Episode 1: "The Aledo Way"

The series premiere introduces viewers to the town of Aledo, Texas — where the Friday Night Lights shine especially bright — and to the team that plays under them. The town is located about 30 minutes southwest of Fort Worth.

New episodes are released every Wednesday on titletowntx.com. The series will wrap up in December.

Justin Martin is KERA’s local host of All Things Considered, anchoring afternoon newscasts for KERA 90.1. Justin grew up in Mannheim, Germany, and avidly listened to the Voice of America and National Public Radio whenever stateside. He graduated from the American Broadcasting School, and further polished his skills with radio veteran Kris Anderson of the Mighty 690 fame, a 50,000 watt border-blaster operating out of Tijuana, Mexico.
