Have questions about dating or economics? Listen to this conversation with Paul Oyer from 'Think'

Online dating can be scary. Can the rules of finance help us sort it out? Economist Paul Oyer speaks with Krys Boyd today at 1 p.m. about how the lessons he learned in the dismal science can be applied to the dating game.

In his new book, Everything I Ever Needed to Know About Economics I Learned from Online Dating, Oyer writes about his experience of jumping back into the dating world after more than 20 years away.

During that time, Oyer said in this video by Stanford Business, the internet was on the rise and he became an economist.

"So with the combination of those two things, as I began getting into the online dating world, I couldn't help but think of it as a market," Oyer said.

But the system had its quirks. Oyer told Nebraska Educational Telecommunications  he was discriminated against by listing himself as "separated" rather then as "divorced" or "single."

Listen to the podcast here, and don't forget to tune into 'Think,' Monday through Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. on KERA 90.1.
