Launch DFW will host Dallas New Tech at the DEC on August 5th.

Navigating the world of small business can be challenging. Yet North Texas has proved itself with a booming start-up community. Today at 1 p.m., three local entrepreneurs talked startups on Think: Launch DFW founder Bradley Joyce, SPAteneity Natural Nail Salon founder Missy Malone and Kairos Facial Recognition founder and The Sport of Sales author Craig Lewis.

CultureMap recognized the 10 most exciting start-ups in the area. And Entrepreneur compiled a list of popular businesses that originate from Dallas.

LaunchDFW, which covers start-ups and entrepreneurship in the area, regularly features events with the Dallas Entrepreneur Club and start-up profiles, including this one on wire-free phone charger company, Ubidock.

And Dallas isn’t just helping local small businesses get their start. Earlier in April, The Dallas Morning News reported that DFW had attracted start-ups from around the country to relocate.

KERA's Lauren Silverman has been following the surge of startups in North Texas on our Breakthroughs blog. She's our guest host on Think today.

Listen to Think Monday through Thursday, at noon and again at 9 p.m., on KERA 90.1 or via online streaming.
