Man Arrested After Gun Fired Through Irving Motel Room Wall, Killing Woman

Irving Police
Michael Shane Gray has been charged with negligent homicide, Irving police said.

A 36-year-old man from Dallas has been charged with negligent homicide after his gun went off and the bullet killed a woman in the motel room next door.

Irving police say Michael Shane Gray was staying at the Microtel Inn on West Irving Boulevard and was "handling" his gun when it fired. The bullet went through the wall and struck 48-year-old Traci Lynn Reedy in the chest as she sat in bed watching television. Her husband and teenage son were in the room, but were not injured.

There was a woman in the room with Gray. Police say there is no indication of any sort of disturbance when the gun discharged. Gray remains in the Irving jail.
