From the airports and other businesses to colleges and schools, the coronavirus outbreak is affecting North Texas.
Dallas County on Wednesday reported 78 new cases of COVID-19; that marks the biggest one-day increase of cases in the county. And it brings the county's total to 247. A sixth county resident has died from COVID-19 -- a Garland woman in her 80s. She had been hospitalized and did not have high-risk chronic health conditions.
Elsewhere in North Texas, Tarrant County on Wednesday reported nearly 20 new cases, for a total of 90. And Denton County announced 19 new cases, for a total of 70. Collin County has more than 50 cases.
Statewide, Texas health officials report about 1,000 cases and at least 12 deaths. They say more than 13,000 people have been tested.
