A Fort Worth Police officer was rushed to the hospital Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in pursuit on the North Freeway in Fort Worth. The officer had “extensive surgery” and was in ICU in stable condition by late Saturday night, according to a statement released by the department.

Fort Worth officers attempted a traffic stop on a stolen car in the 4200 block North Freeway northbound around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. According to police, the suspect Ronnie Jackson, Jr. fled and a chase ensued.

During the pursuit, Jackson's car hit the officer while he was attempting to deploy stop sticks, officials said in a statement.

Police found and arrested Jackson late Saturday night. He’s been charged with criminal attempted capital murder and evading arrest detention with a vehicle.

WFAA reports, police found Jackson hiding in a neighborhood near the Linkcrest Drive exit of Interstate 30.
