Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain says he thankfully knows of no fatalities in his community but damage is extensive and at least seven citizens received minor injuries.

He has declared a local state of disaster this morning and Cleburne schools are closed today.

Mayor Cain says the Winchester area on the west side of town was the hardest hit and he is asking the public to avoid that area.

“We’ve got police cordoning off the area we don’t want to interfere with first responders.  Also citizens need to remember in the next couple of days as we start restoring power that power lines on the ground are dangerous and that’s a very dangerous time,” Cain said.

Mayor Cain is asking those who want to help to contact the Red Cross instead of sending packages.

Cleburne water service is still operating, although it's on emergency power.
