Are You A Young Latino Voter? KERA Wants To Hear From You

Feb 6, 2020

A projected 32 million Latinos will be eligible to vote in this year’s U.S. presidential election, according to the Pew Research Center.

This means that Latinos, for the first time, will make up the largest racial and ethnic minority voting bloc.

To explore this significant demographic shift, KERA and the daily global news program The World are collaborating on a year-long project that looks at young Latinos and the 2020 election.

The series is called “Every 30 Seconds” because about every 30 seconds a Latino in the U.S. turns 18 and becomes eligible to vote. That’s about 75,000 potential new voters each month and some 900,000 each year, according to The World’s analysis of Census Bureau data.

Over the course of this year, we’ll look at the issues young Latinos care about, the candidates they’re interested in and the range of views in the Latino community.

KERA wants to hear from young Latinos in North Texas who'll be voting for the first time. If you're 17 or 18, fill out the form below and a reporter may contact you.
